Recently, I had the opportunity to spend a weekend with my family and friends at Martindale Hall in the Clare Valley, an hour or so out of Adelaide. Martindale Hall is a very beautiful Georgian mansion that allows visitors to stay overnight and experience life as it would have been for the original household. It is particularly famous because it was used as a filming location for the Peter Weir film ‘Picnic at Hanging Rock’.
Everyone had fun dressing up to suit the mansion’s aesthetics and we were served a delicious meal in the dining room which was followed by a quiz. We also enjoyed a midnight walk to the nearby coach house and some of the men played billiards afterwards. I stayed in the nanny’s room and I was so scared that some ghost child would come out to play in the middle of the night :S
Anyway, everyone had a wonderful time and I would love to stay over again sometime. If ever you get the opportunity to spend a weekend at Martindale Hall, I highly recommend you take it up!
