How to Craft your Signature Scent

December 3, 2016

In my opinion, scent is often one of the most neglected out of the five senses. We find ourselves focusing on the aesthetics of an outfit or interior (sight), or how delicious the food is at our favourite local cafe (taste). However scent has a greater impact on our lives than we often think!

Did you know that by using the right scent, a department store can increase the amount of sales it makes? Or that being surrounded by the right scent can make us perform more highly at work?

What about the childhood nostalgia associated with a mother’s longstanding favourite perfume? Or the reminiscence of many warm and happy Christmases when we smell pine needles?

Scents bring each of us different feelings and experiences, so it makes sense for us to want to be able to customise our own favourite scents.

Recognised internationally as one of Australia’s leading perfume experts, Samantha Taylor has established The Powder Room, a boutique agency specialising in perfume education, production and events.

Samantha’s already been working on some cool projects with some well known brands like Tony Maticevski, Kerastace, Mecca Cosmetica and Bombay Sapphire, and is now bringing you the opportunity to create your own perfect scent through a series of master classes direct from France!

Each master class covers the history of perfume, how it’s created, as well as the opportunity to smell rare and unique materials. The most exciting part is using the Olfactorium (a mini perfumer’s organ) with raw materials direct from France to create your scent!

Saturday 10th December 2016, 10:30am – 12:30pm

Ayers House, 288 North Terrace, Adelaide, SA 5000
