As a child during the 3 years I lived in Tasmania, I have happy memories of going with my mother and family friends to collect wild Oysters (and eating them fresh) growing on the rocks at a beach on Tassie’s north-east coast.
Fast forward to today, the company I work for (Microsoft) works in partnership with The Yield on an innovative Internet of Things technology, which at the moment helps protect Tasmanian Oyster harvests from environmental hazards which would otherwise ruin these harvests.
So when the lovely folks at 2KW bar & Restaurant invited me to their National Oyster Day celebration on August 5th to launch the inaugural Adelaide Oyster Festival, I needed no convincing!
Celebrations of this intriguing and delicious mollusc will continue at 2KW throughout August, culminating in the ultimate event on Saturday, September 3rd. You can expect to enjoy freshly shucked oysters from all over SA including Coffin Bay, Streaky Bay and American River – and paired with beverages from Arbeaumont Champagne, Sidewood wine & cider and Coopers beer.
