Featured as part of the Adelaide Fashion Festival ‘Couture Culture’ Show, Madame Zhu is the only international label to show this year.
Madame Zhu is one of China’s leading designers, popular due to her signature style focusing on modern corporate-style wear with traditional Chinese elements. In Australian fashion, we’ve also seen oriental-inspired fashion – Australian Fashion Labels’ brand Jaggar released a collection earlier in the year featuring kimonos and oriental patterns, and martial arts uniform tops and jackets have been done by many labels like Cameo and Bardot.
I love how Madame Zhu has made traditional Chinese styles wearable – there are a number of pieces that I would love to wear myself!
It’s wonderful to see international designers showcasing in Australia. I think its a great way to discover new ways of thinking, build strong networks, and also spread knowledge about participating brands to new markets.
